1972 – Family Owned & Operated

September 5 1972, Jeff and Wanda Garfield open their doors for business in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, located at 300 NE 45th Street. The Waterbed Store becomes Seattle’s destination for top quality waterbeds, mattresses and bedroom furnishings.

The Garfield family grows right alongside the business. Jeff and Wanda’s three sons become part of the business operations in years ahead.

1986 – Expansion Remodel

The Garfields map out the perfect expansion of the Waterbed Store to better serve their local community. Construction included an 8,000 square ft. expansion, split-level showroom, new brick exterior and off street parking garage.

From start to finish the rebuild took about four months to complete. Come 1993, the Waterbed Store undergoes a name change and officially becomes Bedrooms & More.

2003 – Lasting Value is Comfort

As big box name brands leaned into the disposal mattress mindset of only selling 1-sided ‘can’t flip’ mattresses, the Garfield’s decide it’s best to part ways. Shortly after Bedrooms & More transitions to only selling 2-sided mattresses that you can flip and rotate. With a 2 sided mattress, you can sleep on either side, this aids evening out normal wear and tear. It also ensures your mattress lasts up to 3 times longer than a single sided ‘can’t flip’ mattress.

Our commitment to 2-sided mattresses continues allow our customers to enjoy long-lasting comfort while saving money. It also keeps mattresses out of the landfill. We call that an all around win.

2005 – Leadership Grows

The Bedrooms & More leadership team expands in 2005 when Blake Garfield joins operations to spearhead marketing and media outreach along with managing the sales team. Shortly after, Drew and Krystal Garfield also join forces.

Together the Garfields continue to secure quality control from top-to-bottom by focusing on partnerships with manufacturers that share the same core values as the family business.

2009 – Botanicore™Latex

With unreliable quality of raw commodities the Garfields decide to source their own. After travels to Asia to see rubber tree groves and factories where botanical latex is processed, the Garfields launch their private label called Botanicore™.

In unison, 45th Street Bedding is born to meet the need for durable, high-quality, mattresses and bedding products with exceptional value. Botanicore™ quickly becomes the proprietary latex for all 45th Street Bedding mattress cores, toppers and pillow inserts. Using sustainable, all-natural and organic materials, all of the latex mattress models are locally assembled right here in Seattle.

2018 – Flagship Grand Opening

Bedrooms & More expands with a new, state-of-the-art retail showroom just a half block from our first legacy location. This expansion brings 21,000 more square feet to showcase more sustainable home furnishings.

Multi-levels include: 2-sided mattresses, natural & organic bedding, bedroom, living, dining room & home office furniture. As well as, a vast selection of seating from recliners, sofas, sectionals, sleepers and futons.

2022 – 50 Years in Business!

Bedrooms & More celebrates our 50th year anniversary. If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that we’d be nowhere without our customers. It’s the experience we’ve gained along the way from serving our community both near and far that we value most.

Today Bedrooms & More continues to operate two retail locations; Flagship Showroom & the Clearance Outlet both located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. And a Distribution Center in North Seattle. All locations are open 7 days a week, so come visit us!

Over the Years

Jeff and Wanda Garfield open the first Bedrooms & More retail location in Seattle’s, Wallingford neighborhood. Located at 300 NE. 45th Street, just 2 blocks west of the I-5 freeway, Bedrooms & More quickly grew to be Seattle go to destination for waterbeds and supplies.

Following the waterbed craze of the 70s, Jeff and Wanda Garfield began looking for a reliable alternative. Latex fulfilled that need with its similar conforming properties, and added benefits of durability, longevity, and customization. Along with the introduction of latex to our retail store came an expansion of other mattress varieties, including innerspring and hybrid.

After most of the mattress industry is taken over by private equity firms, it slips into an era of selling one-sided, “can’t flip” mattresses. Bedrooms & More simply didn’t want to participate in duping American consumers and were unwilling to compromise on our standards of quality, long-lasting products.

So we began collaborating with our own manufacturers to design beds exclusive to the values of our business. By leveraging our long-standing relationships with manufacturers, we were able to set a precedent for how our mattresses would be made and what type of materials would be used. The well-being of our customers has always driven us to innovate and challenge the norm.

2009 – 45th Street Bedding, our sister company is born.

Raw commodities had become unreliable in their quality. Therefore, in order to uphold our standards, we decided to source and guarantee our own materials. After sending family members to southeast Asia to see the rubber tree groves and the factories where the latex was processed, we decided it was time to launch 45th Street Bedding in efforts to manage quality by importing our own botanical latex products.

Botanicore™ quickly became the exclusive, proprietary label for our latex mattress cores, toppers, and pillow inserts. Its since become the gold-standard for all latex on the market.

Today, 45th Street Bedding is the largest importer of botanical latex in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to mattresses, we design, manufacture, and sell our own high quality bedding. From bamboo bedding to an extensive line of washable wool products, you’ll find unmatched quality with exceptional value.

Bedrooms & More Expands

Our operation blossoms to include a whole new, state of the art building just half a block East of our legacy location.

This expansion includes 21,000 more square feet to showcase our products including multiple floors of mattresses, bedroom furniture, a large selection seating solutions from recliners to sleeper sofas and more.

Our original location on the corner of 45th St. and Latona remains open 7 days a week and now serves as the Bedrooms & More Clearance Outlet.
